Quick Start

New to BagyoAlerto? Start with the "Getting Started" section below, then explore the Checklist tab to begin preparing your emergency kit.

Getting Started

Learn the basics of using BagyoAlerto

Choose your kit type (Personal, Family, or Pet Kit) from the dropdown in the Checklist section

Review the pre-loaded emergency items for your selected kit

Check off items as you pack them - your progress is automatically saved

Add custom items using the "Add Custom Item" section if needed

Monitor your completion percentage to ensure you're fully prepared

Managing Your Checklist

Advanced checklist features and customization

Switch between different kit versions (Personal, Family, Pet) based on your needs

Add custom items by typing the name, selecting a category, and clicking the plus button

Use category controls to check/uncheck all items in a category at once

Remove unwanted items by clicking the trash icon (only custom items can be deleted)

Use "Check All" or "Uncheck All" for quick bulk operations

Import & Export

Backup and share your checklist data

Click "Export" to download your checklist as a JSON file for backup

Use "Import" to restore a previously exported checklist

Share exported files with family members to sync preparedness lists

Keep backups in cloud storage for access across devices

Import works with any valid BagyoAlerto checklist file

Emergency Contacts

Access critical emergency services

Browse emergency contacts organized by type (Government, Emergency, Local)

Tap "Call Now" to directly dial emergency numbers on mobile devices

Use the copy button to copy numbers for texting or sharing

Export all contacts as a backup file for offline access

Memorize key numbers like 911 in case your phone battery dies

Keep printed copies of important numbers in your emergency kit

Weather Alerts

Stay informed about weather conditions

Weather alerts appear automatically on your dashboard when storms approach

Alerts are color-coded by severity (red for high, yellow for medium, blue for low)

Dismiss alerts after reading by clicking the X button

Enable browser notifications to receive alerts even when the app is closed

Check the dashboard regularly during typhoon season for updates

Themes & Offline Use

Customize appearance and use without internet

Toggle between light and dark themes using the moon/sun icon in the header

Dark mode is helpful during power outages to save battery life

The app works completely offline - no internet required after first load

All your data is stored locally on your device for privacy and reliability

Add the app to your home screen for quick access like a native app

Emergency Preparedness Tips

Backup and share your checklist data

Prepare your emergency kit before typhoon season (June-November in Philippines)

Keep at least 3 days worth of water (1 gallon per person per day)

Store food that doesn't require cooking in case of power outages

Keep important documents in waterproof containers

Identify evacuation routes and centers in your area beforehand

Create a family emergency communication plan

Charge all devices before the storm and keep power banks ready

Stay indoors during the typhoon and away from windows

Listen to battery-powered radio for emergency updates
